Working
Seminar on Conceptualized Biology:
Employing Palingol to identify S-boxes in
bacterial genomes

AbstractPalingol is a programming language created in 1996 and used to describe nucleic acids’ secondary structures. So Palingol is a useful tool for the application of S-box searching. S-box is a RNA motif with some conserved structures. It has capability to fold into two alternative structures in order to control transcription. The real function of it is not clear yet. But the structure was already identified from several bacteria genomes 2 years ago. The aim of the work is to employ Palingol to identify S-boxes from 52 genomes and 6 of them have been verified containing S-boxes.
