An Introduction to
Cryptography and
Error Correcting Codes
II
Dr. Nam-Kiu Tsing
Department of Mathematics, The University of Hong Kong
AbstractIn our last talk we discussed some basic principles of making and breaking secret codes. In the present talk we shall consider Error-correcting codes, which are capable of “self-repairing” in the event of data corruption. We shall look at how data redundancy is exploited in such codes to achieve this.
If time permits, we shall also talk about the deciphering of ancient scripts.
