dimensional manifolds of general type

Abstract
In
this joint paper with Eckart Viehweg
we generalize the strict Arakelov inequaliy
for families of curves of genus ³ 2 due to Sheng-Li
Tan to families of higher dimensional manifolds, whose canonical linear systems
are birational. As a consequence we show that moduli spaces of such type manifolds cannot contain Shimura curves of Mumford
type.
