Abstract
This will continue from last week's lecture “Real
Group Orbits on Complex Flag Manifolds”. Again, Z = G/Q is a complex flag manifold, G0 is a real form of G, and we study the G0 orbit structure of Z. Last week we saw the connection between open orbits and
discrete series representations. This lecture will first recall the other
series of representations of G0
that enter into the Plancherel formula, and then
indicate how they show up on certain partially complex G0 orbits as the natural action of G0 on certain partially holomorphic
cohomology spaces. The lecture will concentrate
on the case of the complex Grassmann manifold and the
“principal series” of representations of G0 .
