Generalization of Gieseker's degeneration to higher rank stable vector bundles

Abstract

In this talk, I will recall firstly a method of Gieseker in proving Newstead-Ramanan conjecture, which is about vanishing of Chern classes of moduli spaces of rank two stable vector bundles. Then I will talk about the current situation about generalization of Gieseker's method to moduli spaces of higher rank stable vector bundles.
