of Hecke curves and Chow group of 1-cycles
on the moduli space of vector bundles over a curve
Abstract
We compute the Chow group of 1-cycles on
the moduli space of vector bundles over a curve of
rank 2 with fixed determinant of odd degree. This is done by studying the
degeneration of Hecke curves. Usually Chow groups are
huge, but in this case it turns out that the group is expressible by the Jacobian of the curve.
