Quasi-conformal surgery for
the construction of Herman rings

Abstract
About
twenty years ago, by introducing the method of quasi-conformal surgery, Shishikura showed how one can construct rational functions
with Herman rings. His main idea is to cut and paste two Siegel disks to
produce one Herman ring. In this talk, we shall explain his construction
carefully.
