Abstract

 

The course “Development of Mathematical Ideas” has not been offered for two years since my retirement.  Contrary to commonly mistaken belief, the course is not a course on history of mathematics, but a course involving history of mathematics.  In this talk I will share with anybody interested some experience and reflection derived from teaching the course in the past thirty years.
