The course
“Development of Mathematical Ideas” has not been offered for two years since my
retirement. Contrary to commonly mistaken belief, the course is not a
course on history of mathematics. In this sequel to a talk of the same title I
will continue to share with anybody interested some experience and reflection
derived from teaching the course in the past thirty years, with some examples
on my attempt to extend this historical dimension to other courses.
