Representation
numbers of integers by
positive definite
quadratic forms
Professor
Winfried Kohnen
We shall give new finite and
closed formulas for the number of representations of an integer as a sum of an
even number of integral squares. The proof uses the theory of modular forms,
notably the Rankin-Selberg method and Eichler-Shimura cohomology.
However, no pre-knowledge about modular forms will be required.
