Dichotomy
of uniruled
symplectic
submanifolds
Professor RUAN Yong Bin
Abstract
Symplectic birational
geometry studies uniruled manifolds and uniruled submanifolds. This talk will
focus on uniruled submanifolds. The main conjecture is that there is a
dichotomy for such a special submanifold depending on its normal bundle.
Namely, if the normal bundle is non-negative in some sense, the ambient
manifold should be uniruled. Otherwise, there should be a symplectic surgery to
remove the submanifold. We will present a solution to the conjecture for the
case of divisor.
