Abstract
Ablowitz, Halburd and Herbst (2000) proposed to use the classical Nevanlinna theory to track down the integrable difference equations in the complex plane. We shall review their
theory and to develop some tools in Nevanlinna theory
that could be useful in studying the growth of meromorphic
solution to difference equations in the complex plane. In particular, we shall
also review classical Nevanlinna type results related
to meromorphic solutions of ordinary differential
equations in the complex plane.
